Who will be Automatically Booted Out of The Biggest Loser Camp? Top 5 Reveal Soon!

Posted on March 15, 2014 | 12:23 PM

The competition in “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” has just become stiffer and more daunting than ever for its six remaining contestant pairs after all of them were sent home to continue their weight loss journey.

The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles Top 6 Pairs

Outside the camp, married couple Carl and Kayen, siblings Bryan and Ikya, showbiz royalties Pat and Cathy, bagong bigateam Osie and Francis, friends Jepoy at Tristan, and brothers Ralph and Christian are compelled to live in their homes with their family.

But this won’t be easy as they will be tested to keep their determination to watch their weight and resist their food cravings.

When they head back to the camp, the six doubles will face another competitive weigh-in where the pair that falls below the red line or records the lowest percentage of weight loss becomes automatically booted out of the camp.

Which ‘bigating double’ will be permanently expelled from the competition? Which pairs deserve to belong in the Top 5?

With the battle to the finish line becoming more intense, Ralph was driven to confess his real feelings to Pat and even expressed his intention to court her. How will their special friendship work out as they train together outside the camp?

Watch “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” from Mondays to Fridays after “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida, and on Saturdays after “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”

Love Team Pat and Ralph 'Meet-the-Parents' on Biggest Loser Doubles

Posted on March 7, 2014 | 8:16 PM

As the transformation of the contestants in “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition” continues, two of them have turned to each other for inspiration.

Ralph Du and Pat Martinez romance brewing in The Biggest Loser Doubles

Ralph recently admitted that he likes Pat and finds her determination her most attractive characteristic. The two have been frequently seen together and have become noticeably closer to each other after teaming up in various workout sessions.

“I feel this connection with Ralph, who, according to (his brother) Christian, is not talkative and doesn’t have so many friends. The mere fact that he was the one who opened up to me makes me glad. It feels good that some people here in the camp find me special because I haven’t felt that for a long time,” said Pat.

Their budding romance even takes an interesting turn when Pat meets Ralph’s mother, and Ralph meets Pat’s father, actor William Martinez in their upcoming dance competition.

The exciting dance-off, meanwhile, split the ‘bigating doubles’ into hiphop and ballroom groups, with only one pair declared the winner in each category.

While they needed to perform under intense pressure in their dance-off, nothing would be as nerve-wracking as the upcoming competitive weigh-in that happens at the end of the week. Which pair will be the next to leave the “Biggest Loser” camp?

Coaches Jim and Toni Saret Clash in The Biggest Loser Doubles

Posted on February 28, 2014 | 5:24 PM

The contestants of “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” are not the only ones caught in an intense competition, as fitness coaches and real-life married couple Jim and Toni Saret are also up against each other to lead their respective teams to win in the show’s third competitive weigh-in on Saturday (March 3)

In a new twist, the contestants were divided into two teams led by the two coaches, who must push them to train and shed the extra pounds. The team that records the higher weight loss percentage in the weigh-in will be saved from elimination.

Coach Toni chose officemates Mai and Bien, showbiz royalties Pat and Cathy, friends Tristan and Jepoy, and the ‘bagong bigateam’ Osie and Francis to be part of her team, while coach Jim has to train cousins Lovely and Carol, brothers Ralph and Christian, siblings Ikya and Brian, and married couple Carl and Kayen.

In the end, the two pairs with the lowest weight loss percentage from losing team will be put on the chopping block.

“Now I will be able to show my own style. I know everything he (Coach Jim) knows and more,” said coach Toni about her husband.

“I am afraid of her because she knows all of my secret weapons,” coach Jim quipped.

The two teams already faced off in two team challenges, where Team Jim emerged as the winner. Will Team Toni be able to pull through in the next challenges or will Team Jim continue its winning streak?

Only eight pairs remain in the competition after couple Biggie and Valerie got voted off from the program last night. They also recorded the lowest weight loss percentage in the second competitive weigh-in with only 10 pounds or 2.56% of their previous weight.

Watch “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles” from Mondays to Fridays after “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida, and on Saturdays after “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”

ABS-CBN, Philippine Leader in Adapting Global TV Formats

Posted on February 9, 2013 | 8:48 AM

ABS-CBN Corporation, the Philippines’ largest and leading conglomerate, has successfully launched the local versions of three global TV formats, Shine International’s “MasterChef” and “Minute to Win It,” and Endemol’s “Deal or No Deal.”

“MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” hosted by award-winning actress Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, started airing in November 2012 in the channel’s morning timeslot to consistently high ratings. ABS-CBN gave the hit cooking reality show a Filipino flavor by dubbing it a kusina serye (kitchen series) highlighting the real-life struggles and triumphs of the aspiring cooks who come from different generations, places, and economic backgrounds.

The kusina serye runs back-to-back with widely popular game show “Minute to Win,” solidifying the viewership of ABS-CBN’s morning block. “Minute to Win It,” hosted by actor-VJ Luis Manzano, came out in mid-January and has regularly placed on the list of the top 10 most-watched weekday programs in the Philippines. The show has triggered a wave of excitement among audiences who root for players carrying out misleadingly easy challenges. Its first weeks have also had the country’s most popular celebrities play and will soon feature regular contestants from the tryouts.

This Philippines’ highest rating game show in 2012 was also a hit franchise produced by ABS-CBN. The fourth season of “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal,” which banks on host Luis Manzano’s fresh hosting style and engaging interaction with players, ended up as last year’s top 8th most watched program in urban and rural homes nationwide, with a national TV rating of 25%, based on data from Kantar Media. Launched on Philippine TV in 2006, “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” has set itself apart from the other versions of Endemol format because of its unique elements such as the dancing 24K girls, the signature hand gestures signifying ‘deal’ and ‘no deal,’ and an energetic and interactive audience. The program was so outstanding that it was chosen as one of the only three countries to be part of USA’s “Deal or No Deal – Around the World” edition in 2008.

This year, meanwhile, ABS-CBN is set to release local versions of hit reality shows to give Filipinos a platform to reach their dreams. ABS-CBN continues to discover world-class acts in the fourth season of Fremantle’s “Pilipinas Got Talent,” which is set to debut early this year. Production is also underway for “The Biggest Loser Doubles,” to be hosted by acclaimed actress Iza Calzado, the second local edition of the Shine International format. Nationwide auditions, meanwhile, have already begun for the Philippine debut of singing competition “The Voice of the Philippines,” licensed by Talpa Media Group. In the next few weeks, ABS-CBN will announce the judges for its first season.
