Following two successful weeks of making it to the number one spot in Sunday television ratings, they have become humbly grateful and hopeful for things to come.

Bea Alonzo Considers Playing Dyesebel; Returns to TV Early 2014

Posted on December 14, 2013 | 11:17 AM

Actress Bea Alonzo is willing to play the love-lorn mermaid Dyesebel when the character returns on television for the much-anticipated ABS-CBN remake of the famous Mars Ravelo work.

Bea Alonzo comeback teleserye slated for release early 2014

Bea Alonzo was believed to play Dyesebel because of her Instagram posts showing the actress' fondness of swimming nowadays. In an interview with entertainment site Pep.ph, Bea said that if ever the role will be given to her, she will consider it as this will be her very first fantaserye if ever.

However, Bea Alonzo might not be donning the mermaid costume since her comeback teleserye on ABS-CBN next year will be a drama. This was revealed by the actress to ABS-CBN News, saying that she's excited to give life to another character which is totally different from her past roles.

"Basta istorya ito ng paghihiganti. Maganda siya. Mature siya for me pero nandiyan tayo, let’s try new things all the time," she said.

According to Bea, the series might start grinding January for release first quarter of 2014. Bea, however, refused to divulge further details about the project, including the actors who will be joining her in the said teleserye.

"I’m doing a soap. Hindi pa yata puwede sabihin kasi wala pang final, may ginagawa pa kasi 'yung dapat kong makakasama. Sana matuloy kasi hindi ko pa sila ever nakakasama.”

The upcoming project will be under Dreamscape Entertainment of Deo Endrinal.

Bea Alonzo was last seen on a teleserye via A Beautiful Affair, her reunion series with John Lloyd Cruz, which ended early 2013. For the rest of the year, Bea became busy with movie projects such as Four Sisters and A Wedding  and She's The One, which both did well in the box office.

Jessy Mendiola Receives Birthday Surprise; Movie with John Lloyd Awaits

Posted on December 5, 2013 | 6:08 PM

It was an ordinary taping day for Jessy Mendiola. She was on her way to the set of her primetime series “Maria Mercedes” when suddenly, the cast, the staff, and even members of her fans club surprised her and welcomed her with loud cheers to celebrate her 21st birthday.

Jessy Mendiola surprised by Maria Mercdes cast and crew, fans on her birthday

“I wasn’t expecting it at all. I was just so happy that the people I love were there to celebrate my birthday,” she said.

At her young age, Jessy has been truly blessed with a wonderful showbiz career. When asked what else she could ask for her birthday, the Kapamilya actress said that she just hopes that she will always have good health.

Jessy also shared how tough the year was for her, yet she remains thankful for all the good things that happened to her.

“I’ve been through a lot of trials this year. They weren’t easy but I learned from the experience. At the end of the day, God is really good and He will find ways to make you smile again by blessing you with more than what you asked for. I am truly thankful. This is one very memorable year for me,” she said.

One of the things she’s thankful for is the continuous support of viewers for her series “Maria Mercedes.” The Mexicanovela adaptation’s rating is on an uptrend nationwide, especially in Metro Manila. Jessy’s second movie under Star Cinema, “Call Center Girl,” also raked millions in the box office.

Recently, Jessy was also among the hot topics that trended online for one whole day after a video produced by the fast food chain she is endorsing went viral. In the video, Jessy mesmerized UAAP superstar Jeric Teng with her captivating beauty as she sat down with him for a meal.

A lot of projects also await Jessy in 2014 that include a movie project opposite John Lloyd Cruz. Invites for events and out-of-town shows also continue to come in.

When asked about her love life, Jessy shortly quipped, “I’m still waiting.”

Present during the birthday surprise were Business Unit Head Ruel Bayani, director Rechie Del Carmen, production manager Riza Ebriega, executive producer Des Juan, cast memebrs Vina Morales, Devon Seron, Yogo Singh, Jason Abalos, and Tess Antonio, and members of Jessy’s official fans club Jessylicious.

Jessy continues to sizzle primetime viewing every weeknight as Maria Mercedes. This week, Mercedes starts her revenge on Malvina (Vivian Velez) by stripping her off of her power. Will anger and hate consume all of Mercedes? How will Malvina turn things in her favor after learning that Mercedes weakness is still her son Luis (Jake Cuenca)?

ABS-CBN Mobile Now Available; 100,000 Free Sim Cards Given Away to Yolanda Survivors

Posted on November 20, 2013 | 8:31 PM

ABS-CBNmobile announced it is giving away 100,000 SIM cards for free to the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda to help them connect and communicate with their loved ones.

Piolo, John Lloyd, Bea, Kim and Enrique for ABS-CBNmobile

The announcement was made at ABS-CBN’s “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na! An All-Star Benefit Concert” aired on ABS-CBN Sunday night (Nov 17) by actor Piolo Pascual, who also appears in the TV spot along with ABS-CBN stars John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, and Enrique Gil.

The SIM cards will be given away along with relief packages, in tandem with Sagip Kapamilya relief efforts in several Yolanda-hit areas.

Each ABS-CBNmobile SIM card has free prepaid load worth P50, 15 free texts to all networks, and 5MB of Internet that the survivors can use to connect with their loved ones.

Kapamilyas outside the calamity areas can help too. ABS-CBNmobile will make available another 100,000 SIM cards to sell in Metro Manila and other areas not affected by the typhoon to enable the sharing of load with the survivors.

Just buy ABS-CBNmobile SIM cards found in sari-sari stores and tiangges and share load by texting Share<space><amount> and send to 2131. Any of the following load amounts can be shared: P10, P20, P50, P100.

All load shared will be collected and distributed to the Yolanda survivors. To find out how much load has been shared, ABS-CBNmobile SIM card subscribers can text Share<space>Status to 2131. All transactions to 2131 are free.

Given the limited telecom signal and access to television currently being experienced in Yolanda-ravaged areas, ABS-CBNmobile and SkyCable have also partnered to put up TV viewing stations and calling centers, starting with Tacloban and to be rolled out in other key calamity areas. The viewing and calling centers will be available until power and communication lines in affected areas have normalized.

To find out the locations where ABS-CBNmobile SIMs are now available, just call 7878 through your ABS-CBNmobile SIM card or 266-7878 from your landline.

John Lloyd Cruz Confronts Diether Ocampo: Report

Posted on May 5, 2013 | 5:58 PM

Actor John Lloyd Cruz allegedly rushed to the set of Apoy Sa Dagat and confronted one of its lead stars Diether Ocampo, a report from DZMM said.

John Lloyd Cruz and Diether Ocampo

According to the report, John Lloyd Cruz cursed Diether Ocampo and challenged the latter in a fist fight. John Lloyd's wrath started when Diether Ocampo, who got carried away in an intense scene in Apoy Sa Dagat, unintentionally threw a flower vase to Angelica, when the scene only called for a bag being thrown at the actress.

After the scene, Angelica whose foot was hit by the vase, complained to her boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz crying. The hero boyfriend then rushed to the taping and allegedly sought for Diether, cursed and challenged him into a fist fight. Diether, according to the report was shocked and unable to move.

Fortunately, the executive producer of the show came in between and shouted at Lloydy "not on my set!" which then stopped the commotion.

The DZMM report also said that John Lloyd apologized to the staff of the show.

It was not the first time, according to the report, that Angelica became uncomfortable in a scene with Diether. The actress was quoted as saying that she will require a 'double' in sensitive scenes with Diet, except when the scene will call for them talking face to face and should have a shot together.

It Takes A Man and A Woman Now Second Highest-Grossing Pinoy Film of All Time

Posted on April 19, 2013 | 3:42 PM

After earning P345 million in less than three weeks in cinemas nationwide, the Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz-starrer “It Takes a Man and a Woman” is now officially the second highest-grossing Filipino film of all time and the biggest earning non-Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) local movie.

Miggy-Laida wedding in 'It Takes A Man and A Woman'

The third installment of the hit romantic-comedy film series directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina broke the record of the comedy flick “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin” starring Vice Ganda, which earned P331 million during its theatrical run in 2011. “It Takes a Man and a Woman” is now second in terms of total box-office earnings after the 2012 MMFF entry “Sisterakas” starring the comedy trio of Vice Ganda, Kris Aquino and AiAi delas Alas, which raked P391 million during its run in cinemas nationwide. All three top-grossers– “Sisterakas,” “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,” and “It Takes a Man and a Woman”–are co-productions of Star Cinema and Viva Films.

Meanwhile, “It Takes a Man and a Woman” screenwriter Carmi Raymundo recently revealed that the much talked about wedding vows of Laida and Miggy that made everyone in cinemas cry were written by Sarah and John Lloyd themselves.

“Direk Cathy and I told Sarah and Lloydie that we want them to write Miggy and Laida’s wedding vows. Gusto ko din kasi marinig from them kung ano sa tingin nila yung learnings ng characters nila,” explained Carmi, who was also the headwriter of the first two installments of the series namely “A Very Special Love” and “You Changed My Life.” “Both were nervous kung kaya ba nila magsulat but they were very excited. When they showed me what they wrote, I knew right away that they wrote from the hearts of their characters. They were so sincere, ang ganda!”

Carmi further shared that Sarah and John Lloyd’s self-made vows were so beautifully written that she almost did not edit it. “Konti na lang ang inayos ko. Their vows made the ending of Laida and Miggy’s love story a thousand times more special because they spoke their own words. As a writer, yun na ang gift ko sa kanila: to let them speak their own words. In the end, parang naging buhay na talaga sila Miggy at Laida,” Carmi related.

Continue to fall in love with Laida and Miggy’s love story in “It Takes A Man And A Woman” still showing on theaters nationwide.
